A few weeks ago, i bought two scones cost RM1.60 from Lavendar. It tastes sweet and the texture of the scones is hard. It is a bit expensive, so i decided to make my English scones . This English scones are made without sugar, milk and whipping cream. It is more delicious when served with jam. I spent Rm3.00 to have 12 scones.
Ingredients:( 12 of 1.5" diameter scone)
unsalted butter 70g
plain flour 230g
Baking powder 12g
Salt /2 tsp
Egg 50g
Sour Cream 125g
raisin 30g
Methods
- sift plain flour and baking powder into mixing bowl.
- Add in salt and unsalted butter. Mix well with hands
- Add in beaten eggs and sour cream. Mix well with hands to form a dough.
- Add in raisins and mix well.
- Wrap the dough in cling film and refridge for 30 minutes.
- Roll the dough to 5mm thick with a rolling pin and fold it into half.
- cut the dough with the round cookie cutter.
- brush the tops with egg yolk.
- Bake for 20 minutes at 180c
