English Scones


A few weeks ago, i bought two scones cost RM1.60 from Lavendar. It tastes sweet and the texture of the scones is hard. It is a bit expensive, so i decided to make my English scones . This English scones are made without sugar, milk and whipping cream. It is more delicious when served with jam. I spent Rm3.00 to have 12 scones.



Ingredients:( 12 of 1.5" diameter scone)


unsalted butter 70g

plain flour 230g

Baking powder 12g

Salt /2 tsp

Egg 50g

Sour Cream 125g

raisin 30g



Methods


  1. sift plain flour and baking powder into mixing bowl.
  2. Add in salt and unsalted butter. Mix well with hands
  3. Add in beaten eggs and sour cream. Mix well with hands to form a dough.
  4. Add in raisins and mix well.
  5. Wrap the dough in cling film and refridge for 30 minutes.
  6. Roll the dough to 5mm thick with a rolling pin and fold it into half.
  7. cut the dough with the round cookie cutter.
  8. brush the tops with egg yolk.
  9. Bake for 20 minutes at 180c
